Sunday - A small island off Green Turtle Cay in the Bahamas

Even someone who is socially oblivious like Barry know that you don’t do anything on Valentine’s Day for the one you’re dating. And while it took him a bit to figure out what to do, it was the winter weather that inspired this little date.

The portal took them to a small empty island with a mile long beach with pink sand and turquoise waters. It was a day spent snorkeling, swimming and just hanging out on the beach with a cooler full of drinks and food. And as evening set in, Barry teleported in a table and chairs along with food and wine to enjoy.

And most importantly a small device that kept away the seagulls.

“I know it’s not that planet we went to on our first date,” Barry said as he unpacked the food. “But I can guarantee that we won’t freeze to death when the sun goes down.”

[For that girl]

"It is going to be nice to catch a good sunset without the immediate threat of imminent death hanging over us," Summer said, sighing wistfully and knowing that, sure, she'd definitely been filled with warm fuzzy feelings all day, but warm fuzzy feelings weren't going to do jack against severely subzero temperatures. "And, I mean, we can shit on Earth all day," literally and figuratively!, "but when you get right down to it, it really does have its moments, doesn't it?"

She took a moment to just sort of bask in the setting of it all before her attention shifted back to the real highlight of the day, which was, duh, the company.

"This has been really great, Barry," she said. "Thank you."

Perfect, really, which meant that she was definitely waiting for the other shoe to drop and for things to go horribly wrong, but so far, so good, and she was just going to revel in that. Especially since the last time she'd had an epic romantic sort of Valentine's Day like this was...you know, pretty much never?

Valentine's Day was, like, literally the easiest thing to pass ever, Barry. If you fucked that up, Summer would have definitely needed to reevaluate some things.

Of course, she'd have been happy with the standard roses and a box of chocolate, too, so your bar was not even set that high. Which made this all the better and absolutely inspired her to be shameless about statements like the following:

"So....be prepared for food poisoning and needing to put on my best 'oh no, I totally really love it, honest!' face up ahead. Got it. And, yeah, no, I'm so not counting a day at the beach as gift enough unless that day at the beach also includes a deed saying I now own this beach."

Hey, just because her actual bar was very low didn't mean she didn't also have several other completely ridiculous and unreasonable bars also set all the way up in the stratosphere.

Especially since she was pretty sure if she was actually sincere enough about it, he'd probably do it. But she would feel kinda bad about it.

Well, shit. Now Summer was going to start sweating all over again about what she'd gotten him, but, in her defense, guys were so much harder for this kind of thing.

"Pretty sure doesn't sound all that confident," she pointed out with a grin of her own. "But I'm sure I'll love it."

And even if she didn't, she was definitely dedicating herself to pretending she did!

"But I guess we could skip the food poisoning this time."

The appearance of one of those small turquoise boxes was quickly becoming one of Summer's favorite things, but there was definitely a certain thrill that went with the emergence of a plasma rifle shaped box, as well. Either way, she was shaking her head a little bit, almost a little surprised at herself that she would have even remotely have expected juuuust flowers at this point.

"Is one of your strengths making me look like a total chump?" she asked. "Because all I got you was this."

Which looked like just a run-of-the-mill heart shaped box of chocolates, but, when opened, would reveal a wide variety of bright and interesting rocks, some faintly glowing, that required a little bit of explanation.

"Half of those are actual chocolates, half of them are cool space rocks that may or may not do cool things; it's up to you to figure out which is which and what. Also, exactly how secluded are we right now, anyway? Because getting me a beauty like this gun and not being able to test it, like, right away or at least right after dinner is just meaaaan."

That palm tree over there was seriously just asking for it.

"Ooooooh," said Summer, who totally got this notification, really, eyes lighting up, "yes, please! Definitely should get a good handle on it before I need to use it for realises, you know? But...after we eat. No point doing target practice on an empty stomach, right?"
