This Barry. If you're calling about that mess of a portal at the end of the hallway that looks like a glowing woman's you-know-what, I'm fucking working on it, okay? Seriously, fuck off. Otherwise leave a message.
At some point on Thursday afternoon, Barry would recieve a text from Summer:
Hey babe! Not even an hour in and already a change of plans. apparently grampa's trying to ghost this chick who's claiming he's her baby daddy but mom's not having it because she has abandonment issues so we're going to go talk to this lady instead. hopefully that means we'll end up skipping the whole camping thing altogether and i'll be back sooner, but i'll try to keep you updated if i can! Love you! Try not to let Pancakes push you around too much!!! ❤️❤️❤️ 😘😘😘
Well that sounds like a lot more fun than fucking camping! Please tell me there's a galactic version of Jerry Springer and Rick is going to be one of the guests with his baby mama. Because I would watch that in a fucking instant.
If that's the case let me know what channel and I'll record it for posterity.
Sorry everyone else in the car, because now you had to deal with a dreamy little sigh slipping out of Summer, as she felt a whole new outpouring of love and affection for this man as she read that response.
Please. If that happens, I'm fucking livestreaming that shit on literally all my socials, and if there isn't any chair-throwing, imma gonna instigate sum all up on that stage ❤
No doubt Rick was rolling his eyes. Then again when wasn't he?
Keep me in the loop. I want to know what kind of shitshow this turns into. Don't worry about Pancakes. I'll show your picture every day and explain why you abandoned her to watch her crazy great grandfather lose his shit.
And since the shift of power had placed Jerry in the trunk right behind Summer, it actually positioned him in a way that, peering over the back seat amidst the luggage, he could see over Summer's shoulder to her phone perfectly.
Which he didn't mean to do! It just sort of happened! But now that it couldn't be avoided, how could he turn down the potential to open a door of communication to his daughter who was increasingly drifting away from him more and more every day? That's what this whole trip was about, to bring them all together, wasn't it?
"So," he ventured, "who're you texting, sweetie? Is that Barry? Everything still good between you two after, well, after everything with dinner that one time?"
"Ohmygod! Dad!" If there was anything that could actually make Summer's phone disappear again, it was realizing her dad was in prime weirdo creepy eavesdropping real estate right now. "Can you maybe not turn this into a whole 'nother conversation to have with our therapist right now? God!"
"Just trying to make conversation," Jerry poured slightly. "We barely even see you anymore outside of therapy...how're things with the store?"
"Ohmygod. We are going to have new aunts and/or uncles--"
"No, you won't, Summer!" Rick chimed in just for the record.

She ignored it, of course.
"--no one cares, Dad."
