The Not-so-abandoned Warehouse: Thursday Evening

Barry had a lot of projects going on. Right now one of them was an experiment with freezing certain materials in a blast chiller and examining their absorption properties and the effect it had in the ambient temperature of the freezer itself.

And while that was going on Barry was also building a rocket powered rendition of the glider he used in class today. Which was powered by pine cones.

No he wasn't going to keep it. He was going to find a way to send it back to those furry fucking teddy bears back on Endor.

All the while dictating his next installment of the Planet of the Apes/Thomas Edison/Tesla/Twilight fanfic to his computer.

So it took awhile for Raven to get up the nerve to actually come out and see Barry's warehouse/workshop. So sue her.

"So this is where the magic happens."

"Science," Barry corrected her with a smirk. "Magic is still something science can't explain yet. So are you a believer yet or do I still need to amaze you?"

"I could do with some amazement," Raven said. "Though I did get to see a video game system today that was pretty darn impressive."

That's right, Barry, she thought the Wii was more impressive than what you'd shown her, so far.

"Fine. Can your video game system do this?" Barry said picking up his holographic image inducer and slapping it on his chest. He pressed a button and with SNAP his appearance was changed to looking like Ricky Schroder from ~~meta-for~~ Silver Spoons.

That's right Raven, you're not the only one who can change his appearance!

Raven looked suitably impressed. "You made a shape-changing device? Swell!"

She would be somewhat less impressed to learn that it didn't actually change his shape.

Damn it, Raven!

"Not exactly shape changing," he admitted as he changed back to his normal self. "Just a holograph program that allows me to switch identities."

C'mon! That had to be impressive!

"Oh," Raven said. "Well, I guess that's pretty neat, too."

Such enthusiasm.

"Okay. How about this?" Barry said walking across the room to a device and standing on it. He threw a switch and with a FZAP was teleported to another device on the other side of the room. "Ta-dah! Teleportation."

Raven grinned. "Now that really is impressive!" She hadn't met the mutants who could do that, yet. "How much range does it have?"

Hopefully she never meets Nightcrawler. Or Blink. Or Magik. Scratch that last one she hasn't been in the movies. Yet.

"Anywhere on the planet really," Barry replied. "Haven't had a chance to try it on other planets or dimensions yet."

Well, hopefully she'd only meet Nightcrawler after giving birth to him, anyway.

"Can you land anywhere you want, or do you have to have the thingy?"

Thingy was a technical term.

"I can program it to land just about anywhere," Barry said with a shrug. "Have to be careful though because if you do it wrong you can go back in time."

"Is that some kind of sneaky way of bragging about building a time machine?"

"No, because that's a totally separate device," Barry said pointing at another device across the room. "And in the teleporting thingy case it was royal fucking pain in the ass when I discovered it."

"I can see how it would be," Raven said. "Though I bet it'd also be really useful."

This was because she hadn't had Magneto decide to shoot her to stop a future dystopia, yet.

Hey at least it wasn't an alternative past caused by Superboy punching the walls of reality.

"Yeah but right now with the power requirements it only goes back in time 20 minutes and the side effects are a potential heart attack," Barry admitted. "So if you're looking for lottery numbers I wouldn't recommend it."

"That sounds like the plot device from a movie."

No, that's be if it was something like 13 seconds.

"Shit, sometimes that's what I use as challenges to myself to try and do," Barry admitted. "I've got a couple of those fucking laser swords that were inspired by the Space Battles prequels."

"Really?" Raven didn't actually know the Space Battles franchise, but a laser sword just sounded neat. "Can I see?"

"Sure," Barry said with a shrug as he headed over to his weapon cabinet and pressed his hand against the palm reader.

... Don't get any ideas Raven...

The door opened with a hiss revealing various laser guns, phaser guns and deatomizers. Barry pulled out two handles and ignited them revealing two green laser blades.

"Built these after the prequels came out just to see if I could do it. They cut through just about anything," Barry continued as slashed one of the laser swords through an old nearby pipe as a demonstration.

Don't get any ideas. Are you kidding?

"You've got enough weapons in there to stock an army," Raven said. "Are they all just to see if you could do it?"

... Barry's going to have to increase security isn't he?

"Some," Barry admitted. "Other's are in case someone or something tries to fuck me or my friends up. Had to use the laser swords when a bunch of alien mobsters tried to break in my house. Another time I got sucked into another dimension to help a giant fucking ape fight one of his wars. Then there was the time the fucking military tried to blow up my school because one of their infected monkey's got loose."

Yeah, probably.

"And yet you've only been at Fandom since the start of the semester." Raven shook her head, boggling. "Well, you certainly fit right in."

"Shit," Barry said with a grin. "All that stuff happened when I was ten."

"So it's been boring since then, has it?"

"I've gotten better at hiding my shit," Barry said with a shrug. "But stuff still fucking happens."

Plus Barry's canon ended in 2002 so Barry's mun can only make up so much.

Hate when that happens.

"Well, around here, it'll happen however much you hide anything. At least it probably won't have anything to do with what you're working on."

"Yeah, that's one of the reasons why I'm here," Barry agreed. "I can do what I fucking need to do and not have to worry about my dimension's government trying to track me down."

"Nope. Just weird other dimensional beings trying to trap you in limbo with your greatest fear," Raven said. "Or people with reality warping rings writing fanfic about you."

"... Wait. What?"

Barry looked over at his computer which had been recording his Ape-Twilight Fan Fic.

Then again no ape vampires had shown up in Fandom so...

"Are you bullshitting me?"

"I wish," Raven said. "The fanfiction one was kind of neat. I didn't really get hit that much by that one, just helped convince one of the fans to turn her ring over." She'd greatly enjoyed that. Perhaps a little too much. "The other one was terrible, though." She shuddered. "First I ended up a Communist assassin, and then I got abandoned and trapped in a swamp."

"Well who'd want to be a fucking communist these days anyways?" Barry said shaking his head. "Did you know one of the inspirational philosophers for communism was a complete wackjob? He believed that once communism started that we'd have a utopia, be able to communicate with cats and dogs and it would rain lemonade."

"Only one of them?" Raven asked. "I wouldn't actually put any of that past this island."

"Eh. Cats and dogs' would only talk about getting fed. But if you really want lemonade rain, I could make that happen."

"Honestly, that mostly just sounds sticky."

"Well it's rained weirder shit here than that," Barry said with a shrug. "And if any squirrels are listening I didn't mean that literally."

Raven wrinkled her nose. "That's disgusting."

"What? The squirrels were being literal with me this morning. I want to make sure this conversation is accurately recorded."

"I think shooting for accuracy with the squirrels might be a lost cause. They might get resentful and misquote you on purpose."
