With plans looming for this weekend, Barry was now at a point he could call the submarine he was building for Eleanor finished. He had already taken it out for a shakedown cruise to make sure everything was in order. Right now all that mattered was there was someone accomplished enough to drive the thing.

Which was why Barry was sitting on the dock and waiting for the pilot to show up for one more run before Friday.

[Mainly for Joker but open to anyone else who knows who they are and wish to see the sub. Handwavy invites apply.

"Hey, hot damn," Joker said, as he got a look at the thing. "I am seriously impressed. You did this all yourself? In your spare time? In a month?" And, of course, there was the more important question. "How does she run?"

"It's powered by my own positive self-esteem," Barry snarked. "Seriously. You were at the briefing right? It runs on a highly focused form of cold fusion. You'll have enough fuel for the next one hundred years. That should be enough, right?"

Joker sighed. "No, Barry, we covered that. I didn't mean how does she run, I meant, how does she run? Does she run smooth? Handle well? Accelerate quickly? Turn on a dime? You've run her around a little, right?"

"Why don't you come on board and decide for yourself," Barry said stepping on to the deck. "I think you'll be happy with what I've put together."

Joker practically bounced with glee as he followed. "Oh, I hope so! We're counting on you, here."

He looked around, once he was inside. "Oh, very nice," he said. "Very nice indeed. Nice and roomy, with just the right amount of 'you're in a tin can that goes underwater' flair."

"Yeah, that's exactly the look I was going for," Barry snarked as he led Joker to the cockpit. "Celia did the color on it though. If you don't like it blame it on her."

"Yeah, because that's what I'm concerned about -- the color." Joker sat down in the pilot's seat like he was born to have his ass planted there. "So, show me -- ooooh, very comfy! -- show me what's what."

Barry went through the controls in a handwavy fashion. He stressed on the monitoring of air supply and other vitals and gave general instructions on the piloting as well.

"The controls should be fairly simple as long as you listened," Barry finished. "Ready to take it for a spin?"

The sub was already easing away from the dock. "I'm sorry, what?" Joker asked. "I couldn't hear you over the sound of AWESOME."

"You scratch this, you bought it," Barry joked and pointed at the monitor. "I've uploaded the maps Eleanor made of Rapture. If you stay close to the group you can tell what's coming at them at any time. They'll also have GPS units and comm devices so you can see what they see, hear what they hear and know where they are at all times."

Joker nodded appreciatively. "That is exactly what I like to hear." He poked at the controls, getting a feel for them. "Oooh, this is a nice little CNC setup, here. And don't worry, I'm not going hurt the sub -- we need it."

He spun the sub into a turn and headed for deeper water. Being used to spaceship sims the way he was, it felt ponderously slow, but he had an idea it was probably pretty quick for a watercraft. "Not too shabby!"

Barry rolled his eyes. "Okay, Mr. Spaceship. It's not going to fly through water like you would in space. Given enough practice you should be able to turn this fucker on a dime. Or given the current environment, a fucking jellyfish."
