badassprodigy: (oh shit)
After the welcome picnic, Barry had helped Roxie and Jeremy gather their things and haul them back to the warehouse.

Which had been redecorated in his absence.

"What. The. Ever. Loving. Fuck?"

The doors to the warehouse were closed. Locked down tight. After the conversation with the mayor and... weirdly now working for a local government (How the fuck did that happen?), Barry had closed up Dite's and started putting his next experiment to work.

It it involved an emergency portal trip to Barry's old basement and pulling out a piece of equipment Ramaat and-

Yeah. Well that was a long time ago. And technically it never happened. Time travel was weird that way.

Cut for fake science and bad memories )

[Doors closed. Post open. Trigger warning for character death/troublesome memories under the cut.]

Barry had gone to a party. In a toga that had... stuff on it. And he had two alcoholic drinks.

That was the most human contact he had in years. Unless you counted the Ramaat and the Tolan.

Barry did not count the Ramaat or the Tolan.

He made it back to the warehouse still feeling the effects of the gimlets. Slumping back in front of his consoles he let out a sigh of relief. There. Social interaction. Total win.

But still... he felt the need to reach out to a friend. )

Barry hung up feeling... at ease. Ignoring the horrible homemade toga, Barry did what he usually did this late at night.

He went to work. There were prototypes to build. Theories to pursue. New technology to create.

Hopefully tomorrow he'd get his underwear back.

"So this is the warehouse," Barry said opening up the doors for Jeremy and Roxie if she's available. "Been a heck of a lot easier to work here than in the secret lab I had underneath my parents house."

There were times that Barry felt he wasn't a very good son. This was probably one of those times.

There probably wasn't a square inch in his parents' house that Barry didn't have some form of monitoring in place. So when the email notification reminding his parents of the upcoming weekend, Barry had swiftly removed it from his parents' inbox.

As for the invitation that was sent to his parents house via the postal system, that was removed from the inbox by one of his retrieval units. He then sent the form back with the names of his friends back home.

Did he feel a twinge of guilt? Possibly. But he felt safer knowing that his parents would remain oblivious about Barry's brain and the nature of Fandom. It would just be easier that way.

His friends had been dealing with weirdness since they were kids. They could handle Fandom. And honestly his friends literally knew him better than his parents and he missed having them around.

So right now he was hacking into his old school's email system to inform his friends' parents of an upcoming weekend fieldtrip in order to provide cover for Roxie and Jeremy. As well as the attendance records to ensure their absences weren't noticed.

As you do...

[I might be a little excited for PW. Going into SP but open...]

Barry had avoided the warehouse for a total of a day. For the better part of the weekend, he had been holed up here watching friends go through some of the more horrible things that he could have ever imagined. There were of course bright moments that happened as well but the overall horror was outshining those moments.

Which is probably why Barry decided to call home.

Dude... )

After the call he sat back and shook his head in amusement. Suddenly the warehouse didn't seem as grim anymore.

Five minutes later he was back to his regular self and running five experiments at once as he started building yet another project.

Barry was feeling pretty relaxed today.

Which of course meant he was doing three things at once. The first two seemed to involve headgear while the third was the continued work on the gremlin trap.

And in the middle of it all he called out to his cell phone and called an old friend from home. )

[OOC: That got longer than I intended. Open doors and open post.]

After spending a couple of nights listening to creepy-as-hell shit in a house looking like it was built with an allen wrench, Barry was spending his day in the warehouse. His current project was developing a new type of substance similar to Graphene which would allow greater strength and if then enough could be woven into a garment which would allow free movement but have the strength of Kevlar.

And also have it have a color other than grey.

Somewhere in the process of this he remembered the date and realized he hadn't talked to any of his friends in over a week.

A situation he quickly resolved )

Barry rolled his eyes and put his phone aside so he could get back to work as he knew that Jeremy would continue to send him lewd emoticons for the rest of the day.

[Open door. Open post. Cut text contains stupid lewd emoticons that were sent to Barry. If you're offended by that type of thing don't click on it for god's sake.]

Barry was back in his portion of his warehouse running experiments on a certain device which was sitting in the middle of a block of ice.

While he waited for the results on the most recent readings, he did something he hadn't done for a while which was initiate a connection to his remote lab back in his home dimension. He had shut down most of the operating equipment there but for one reason or another he was looking at the GPS tracking system he had in place for his friends and family. (Some people might call it an invasion of privacy but Barry had reasons, okay?) Looking at his scanner he could see the two blips for his mother and father. There was another two blips which were practically on top of each other representing Jeremy and Roxie and then... there was the single blip for Sara.

Barry stared at the screen for few moments taking it all in before terminating the connection and going back to his experiment. This was no time to be homesick or missing people.

There was science to do.

In a fancy hat.

As you do.

[Open Warehouse. Open Post. Subject to SP this evening.]
