So. Barry was definitely Barry this weekend. In fact he wasn't even a berry.

He wasn't sure why the island had decided not to fuck with him this weekend but since it didn't he was going to take full advantage of it.

So he was situated in his lab studying his sensors trying to puzzle out what the fuck was going on.

"I dunno," Kathy said thoughtfully. "I mean, regardless of how, when we turned male, we were still us. These people seem to be entirely different, mentally and sometimes physically. But are they? If they are, where did they come from? Where did our friends go? Seeing if we could find some kind of link might not be the worst idea ever when it comes to figuring this out."

"I spent a weekend thinking I was an owner of a gin joint a couple months ago," Barry said shaking his head. "Plus trying to get everyone affected to submit to a brain scan and a DNA test is too risky. I doubt they'd go for it anyway. Unless you want to go out there and knock some heads and then allow me to experiment on them without going through the ethical committee."

"Hold on, let me do a quick check with your ethical committee to see if we approve of this action," Kathy said. "All in favor?" Beat. "All opposed?"

She raised her hand.

"Oooh, looks like Proposition 929 has been rejected," she said, giving Barry a sorry headshake. "It was really close there for a second."

"You are not the only person on the committee," Barry smirked. "But fuck it. You have food and I have pizza."

"But I am the only one of them currently present and in her right mind, so I get all the votes," Kathy retorted with a grin.

And, just to be that much sassier, she snagged a slice of pizza for herself. Om nom nom pizza.

"What about me?" she asked. "I mean, for a brainscan and DNA test? You can have it on record in case I ever turn into someone else." She took a bite of her pizza and chewed thoughtfully. "Maybe you can even figure out why I am the way I am. No spider bites, no radioactive goo, not even a stray cosmic flare. So I'm guessing it's somehow genetic or something."

"It'd take more than a brain scan to figure out why you are the way you are," Barry said shaking his head. "Especially how you thought Social Justice Warrior was a good code name."

"Ahaha, you're so funny," Kathy said, rolling her eyes at Barry.

...And smiling into her pizza because, okay, it had been funny.

"Good to know you have a future in stand-up if the whole supergenius thing doesn't pan out."

"Yeah. I'm totally going to do that," Barry said with a smirk. "Now hop up on the table so I can scan your brain. Can I get a brain tissue sample as well?"

Kathy was going to finish this slice of pizza before she hopped up anywhere, thank you. It was good!

And she was pretty much the only person on the planet who thought cold pizza was really gross.

"Tissue sample, blood sample, whatever," she said when she swallowed her last bite. She also flipped up onto the table, because she could and it still felt cool to be able to do stuff like that. "I'm drawing the line at urine or stool, though. There's only so much I'm willing to endure for science."
