The last time I believe I did this for Barry was 2014. So let's give it a whirl, shall we?

Barry Ween (Short Version):
  • Barry is a genius who at the age of ten had an IQ of 350 and spent most of his time hiding his genius from the worst of the world and the other half cleaning up after his grand experiments with his best buddy Jeremy.

  • He's built laser guns, memory zappers, clones, dimensional portals, lightsabers, mutated his BFF into a dinosaur, knocked the earth out of the sun's orbit, stabilized Europe's economy and created a new sugar substitute at the age of ten. All in secret so he wouldn't attract the government's attention.

  • He's crude and vulgar and swears like nobody's business. I'll apologize now for the amount of "fucks" he drops in a single conversation.

  • Barry came to Fandom in 2014, 17 years old and post canon. He did the typical FH thing: Fell in love, made friends and actually had a lot of character growth. (Granted he was a complete jerk when he came to Fandom so that was easy to pull off.)

  • Barry is now 27 and is returning to Fandom after being gone for ten years. Yes, he graduated ten years ago but he spent five of those years in a place called Ramaat where time works differently. So he's much older now and very well travelled.

The Long Version:
Barry Ween is a comic book character. He comes from "The Adventures of Barry Ween, Boy Genius" which is a black & white comic series created by Judd Winick and published by Image comics between 1999 and 2002. It features a ten year old genius named Barry who invents technologies that would make Tony Stark and Reed Richards poop their pants in awe. Along with his buddy Jeremy, the duo gets involved in adventures that are usually a result of Jeremy screwing around with Barry's experiments and having everything go horribly wrong. The other adventures are usually caused by Barry's secret crush, Sara, being in danger and him having to rescue her. (Granted, Sara could usually take care of herself but apparently Judd wasn't completely into the self-rescuing princess concept back then.)

Barry's adventures ran the course of time travel, kidnapping, art heists gone wrong, man-eating sasquatches, accountant aliens on the lam, fighting the military over an infected monkey and of course a giant sentient ape with mental powers who recruits Barry to save himself and his dimension.

The entire series is completely juvenile with the humor mostly involving foul language and sex jokes that would appeal to a twelve year old. (Which is probably why I like it)

The defining point of Barry's character is his genius. Without exception, he is the smartest sentient being in his universe. He was self-aware in his mother's womb and by the age of 8 months had created a high powered telescope to spy on aliens out of video camera and an old Atari 2600.

At age ten he has an IQ of 350 and his intellect grows at such a rate that he predicted that he'll be clinically insane before he reached 21. (Spoiler: He didn't.) He never sleeps as his mind is constantly in motion and as a result considers his intellect as a bit of a curse. He hides his intelligence from the world as he doesn't want the government or any other agency to try and take advantage of his mind or his inventions. In order to distract him from going insane he attends school in the hopes that being in social relationships will keep him from going nuts.

Despite his intelligence, Barry does make mistakes with his experiments.

His father was once caught in a dimensional portal Barry created and de-evolved his dad to a neanderthal state. Barry also gave his father the plague when Barry was five He once turned his aunt into a blob; gave hippos the reproductive traits of rodents and at one point knocked the Earth out of the sun's orbit.

Don't worry, he eventually fixed all those problems.

The other defining point of Barry's character is his manner which is almost always sarcastic and scornful. He's also can be extremely crude and has no problem expressing this part of himself at any time.

Deep down... and I mean really deep down, Barry does care about people. He spends whatever wealth he gains from his experience to make sure the world stays stable. If you become a friend to Barry he'll be a fiercely loyal friend to the very end. He might even try to clone you just to have an extra body for you hanging around and quite possibly put various GPS trackers on you just to keep tabs on you just to make sure you're okay. If that ever happens, Barry won't tell you but I'll ask about it OOCly because while Barry is a dick, I'm not.

After graduating from Fandom High, and most of his friends left for their own dimensions, Barry stayed around Fandom for a bit but eventually left the island. He spent ten years travelling various dimensions, visiting friends, making more and trying to find his place in the universe. And while it was ten years for him, it was only five for Fandom because one of the places he visited has a completely different quantum time acceleration so he ended up spending five of those ten years in that dimension.

Barry is now coming back to Fandom as a townie and eventually he'll be teaching as well. Why return to Fandom? Because after ten years he can still understand the contribution this island has had on his life and he hopes to return the favor to others.
