Brooklyn - Friday Evening FHT

Whether it was by a phone call, carrier pigeon or just plain handwavey goodness, the word got out that there was a Brooklyn in the multi-verse that was in trouble. Lucky enough there were a few good denizens of Fandom who were willing to help.

Coming through the portal right by the Brooklyn Bridge, it was readily apparent that portions of Brooklyn was in chaos. Buildings and people were "glitching" where the images of them shifted colors and shapes. For the buildings this was causing instabilities. For the people it was causing them pain.

And then there were the gremlins. They were now running around Brooklyn doing their biting thing on the populace of Brooklyn which added another layer of chaos to a borough that was already seeing enough weirdness.

Time for you all to big damn heroes, right?

"If everyone's done mingling now?" Steve said with a wry smile, hefting his shield. "We're the best there is at gremlin fighting so...keep your distance, watch your ankles, and try to corral the civilians away from getting bitten. Barry's got some stabilizers to temporarily fix the glitchiness until we get a more permanent solution, so grab a few of those before fanning out. Call for backup when you need it, work together, and when this is all over, the hot dogs are on me."

He grinned. "Fandom, assemble!"

That might've only been funny to him.

Even if it wasn't her old rainbows and repurposed gymnastics equipment, Kathy felt distinctly odd about picking up the old Banzai mantle again. It was one thing in Limbo City, when it was mostly her and Dante kicking demon ass and she just happened to be wearing a suit that Barry had made for her.

But here...this was real hero shit again. Superhero shit. And she was definitely feeling some kinda way about it.

Was it happy, with a hard chaser of anxiety? Or anxious with undertones of joy again? Hard to say for sure.

Either way, she was leaning against Dante, letting him ground her as she waiting for marching orders.

Dante's traditional red leather longcoat with jeans and Rebellion's long, sharp blade slung casually over his shoulder was... kind of a superhero uniform if you squinted, and forgot he wore it almost every day, and didn't realize you were lucky he was wearing a shirt this time.

Either way, he didn't seem bothered. He was here to help Kathy help out Barry, no biggie.

After a week of confusing inaction, Starlight was at the complete opposite end of the spectrum.

On the one hand - exciting! Saving people! This was what she did.

On the other - what in the actual hell was going on here? For a Supe who was used to stopping mostly robbers and creeps, multiverse-saving was something of a bit of a steep jump on the difficulty scale.

But, she also wasn't alone, and that gave her a little bit of comfort. She was pacing now, looking around at the other gathering heroes as she lightly fingered a small cross at her throat.

Looking around there were multiple areas that anyone could help out in one way or another depending on their respective skill sets.

Save Brooklyn! - Evacuate the Hospital

The Brookdale Hospital Building was shifting back and forth and the people inside needed to get out before irreparable harm came to them all! Get them out folks!

Almost on autopilot - or maybe hero instincts - Banzai made her way to the hospital. It was in danger and people needed to get out.

But as soon as she stepped inside, she realized she'd made the wrong decision. The overhead lights flickered, people were running and screaming and hiding, the scent of antiseptic was strong in the air...

Blood. So much blood. A doctor shrieks as her last patient grabs at her with dead hands, dragging her down to bite through her throat and face and anything else it can reach. More hands beat themselves bloody on the glass from behind chained doors. A child stands alone and sobbing in the center of the chaos, but no one seems to notice or care. And above all the noise and commotion comes the incessant chattering of teeth...

Save Brooklyn! - Gremlin Victims

Some of the people in Brooklyn have been bitten. And for some reason they think they belong to a street gang named either the "Sharks" or the "Jets". And there's going to be a rumble. So far it just involves snapping fingers but it could evolve into dance moves if we're not careful.

Okay. This is bad. In the middle of Bushwick there was a giant gremlin spider thing terrorizing the neighborhood.

This might take a bit of muscle.

Luckily Adora had lots of muscle, and even more as She-Ra. Transformed and sword in hand, she charged towards the spider gremlin.

Giant spiders. Why was it always giant spiders?

"Hey!" Steve yelled. "You break the good coffee shop and there's gonna be a riot! Cut it out!"

Save Brooklyn! - Stabilize the City!

Barry had handed out small devices resembling a metal tennis ball. "If you see a shifting building, object or person, throw this at them," Barry instructed them all. "It'll stabilize them temporarily until the heroes can shut down the super collider."

After leaving the hospital (hopefully in the capable hands of someone else), Kathy kissed Dante on the cheek and sent him off to handle Coney Island with the promise to meet up later to combine totals. Honestly, right now she just needed to run, to clear her head, and protecting people by flinging balls at them sounded pretty great right now.

She was definitely still down to punch gremlins whenever they showed their ugly faces though.

Gremlins have taken over the Coney Island Cyclone roller coaster. Time to punch their ticket and get them off before they cause too many problems!

"Goddamn," Dante said, strolling casually into the chaos-ridden Coney Island amusement park. "Hey! You guys!" he yelled. "Yeah, the green ones! You want to go for a ride or what?!"

What? He did this for a living.

You know where they had a lot of showy, sparkly electricity? Coney Island.

Starlight's eyes had been glowing for awhile now, but when she got to the roller coaster, the every light in her vicinity started to spark as she absorbed their power.

"Hey!" she yelled, shooting off a blast towards a pack of gremlins to get their attention. "Over here!"

The Ending

It started as slow rumble like an earthquake. All the buildings in Brooklyn began to light up and shimmer like a kaleidoscope burning with energy. Each one of the gremlins that were out and about Brooklyn all began to scream as they were one by one pulled away along with the energy, some of them melting away as they did.

And then in a flash it washed across the entire city as it was sucked into one building: Fisk Tower.



And then everything went dark. For ten seconds everything stayed that way until there was a explosion at the top of Fisk tower and then-



The lights flickered on one by one with Brooklyn's power and everything there coming back to normal.

Cheers erupted all across Brooklyn, their home now safe from the weirdness that had been going on all week.

Back in Fandom the mysterious portals all began to fade and the heightened gremlin activity began to subside to their mere occasional ridiculous levels.

No doubt the police department would start getting calls about bees any time soon.

The End: Revel in Brooklyn's adoration

There was one new figure in the skyline in a black and red costume that some of the populace started shouting for. Apparently everyone was calling him the "New Spider-Man".

Trying to show off a little he did a backflip in mid-air only to get hit in the head by one of Barry's drones.

He managed to recover a little and land on his feet insstead of his head.

"Hey everyone!" Spider-Man said landing near the portal that Barry had created back to Fandom. "Thanks for coming!"

So this was the kid Barry had been talking about. Banzai hung back with Dante while he greeted the people he knew, and eventually wandered over to say hello.

"Hey, Spider-Man," she said, thinking of the several she'd met on the island. "Banzai, formerly of Fandom High. Nice to meet you."
